SoulCare's work in bringing about positive change is achieved through counselling for individuals and couples, personal one-on-one coaching and transformational seminars.

What is SoulCare?

Welcome to my website! My name is David Irwin and I hope that you will be able to find on this site material which will encourage and bless you along your life's journey.

I am psychologist in NSW, Australia and counsel individuals and couples towards greater happiness, well being and fulfillment in life. I have spent the bulk of my working life as a Pastor in the Anglican Church in Australia but retired from that in 2006 (after 28 years) in order to concentrate on developing the work of SoulCare.

The word 'soul' refers to the 'interior' life of a person, how we think, feel and choose (it is related to the Greek word 'psyche' from which we get 'psychology' and 'psychotherapist').

My lifelong passion has been to assist people in every way that I can to experience maximum happiness and fulfilment in life and in relationships.

In recent years it has become clearer to me that the way we think, especially about ourselves, others and the future is critical to the quality of our lives. My counselling and seminar work are now devoted to help people to identify and restructure their unhelpful patterns of thinking which enables us to break out of patterns of depression, anxiety, pessimism, and anger to name a few.

I know from the inside how important changing thinking patterns is - I experienced a difficult and emotionally abusive childhood and struggled with bouts of deep depression as an adult for many years. But now I can truly say, 'I don't do depression anymore!', and my wife will tell you, I don't. I have by God's grace broken the power of significant and destructive thought patterns in my life.

Is this something you would like to learn to do? Jane (my wife) and I would love to help you if we can.>

For us, SoulCare is the vehicle through which we now work to bring God's healing light and love to men and women in order to free them from destructive negativity in their lives so that they in turn go on to enjoy better quality of life in every way important to them.

Transformational counselling for all - regardless of your beliefs

The foundation of our work is intimately related to our spiritual convictions. We are unashamed followers of Jesus Christ. BUT, thousands of people from all walks of life have benefitted through our work. It is not required or essential that people share our spiritual convictions to benefit by our teaching, counseling or coaching. We do not seek to impose our specific spiritual beliefs on anyone, and so everyone is welcome to our seminars, or to receive counseling or coaching.

Our vision, beliefs, values and strategies spring from our Christian convictions and commitment to Jesus as Lord. We repeat however that our work applies to all people seeking any kind of healing or growth. We do not discriminate against any and are available to all who seek our services. Spiritual values may or may not be a part of the therapy, coaching or teaching relationship. It all depends on your needs!
